2026 Toyota Tundra Towing Capacity and Performance
The Toyota Tundra platform is based on a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 powertrain, but you’ll find it comes in a couple of different variations. The base model makes 348 horsepower, but all other gas models get 389 ponies instead. The Tundra is also offered as a hybrid, adding electric infrastructure that adds nearly 50-100 horsepower to the mix. It’s a traditional hybrid, so no charging needed. The hybrid powertrain marginally improves fuel economy, from a combined 20 MPG to 22 MPG. We’ve broken down some core numbers to be aware of below:
| Engine: | Horsepower: | Torque (lb-ft): | Towing Capacity (lbs): | Payload (lbs): |
| 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 | 348/389 | 405/479 | 12,000 | 1,940 |
| Hybrid 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 | 437 | 583 | 11,450 | 1,680 |

In our chart above, the first five models mentioned all have standard gas powertrains. The latter five all come equipped with a hybrid powertrain. The SR is the only one with the base engine, offering a relatively affordable starting point if all you care about is towing power. If you’re willing to step up for the more powerful engine, the Toyota SR5 is a popular choice, bringing alloy wheels and a tow/haul drive mode with a brake controller, making it a little more functional. From there, the lineup gets increasingly more luxurious, with models from the Limited on up coming equipped with leather seats and other premium amenities. 2026 Tundra Technology
As you enter the cabin, you’ll find that most models come equipped with a 14.0-inch touchscreen that dominates the center of the cabin. SR models instead come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen display. No matter which display you have, you’ll find Bluetooth and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard across the board. A six-speaker stereo is standard fare, with an optional 12-speaker JBL unit there if you’d like it. Depending on trim level, you’ll find between three and five USB ports scattered through the cabin, while every model gets a 12-volt outlet. Platinum models and above get a 120-volt AC outlet in the rear so you can charge your tools on the go. Hauling your family in your Tundra? You’ll benefit from the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite, which includes lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and steering assistance. All these features and more help the Tundra earn a five-star overall safety rating for 2026.
