Exterior
On the outside, the 2022 Highlander presents a bold design that hints at the power and premium features within. LED headlights are standard on all models, and auto-leveling LED projector-beam headlights are optional. Base models get 18-inc wheels with a variety of finishes, and XSE, Limited, and Platinum models boast 20-inch alloy wheels. You'll find the Highlander's first-ever twin-tip exhaust on the XSE grade to give it a sportier look and added durability.
Interior
Inside the 2022 Highlander, you'll find refined finishes and premium features across three rows. Three-zone automatic climate control, which is standard on all Highlander models, allows all passengers to select their optimal temperature. There's even a separate control panel in the second row to allow rear passengers to make their own temperature adjustments.
Fabric-trimmed seats are standard on L and LE grades; moving up to XLE or XSE gets you SofTex®-trimmed seats in addition to heated front seats. Leather-trimmed seats become standard on Limited and Platinum models, and ventilation is also added to the front seats. In addition, Platinum adds heating elements to the second-row seats. Other available interior features include ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and chrome interior door handles.
Technology and infotainment
The 2022 Toyota Highlander offers a plethora of infotainment features designed to keep all passengers entertained on the road. An 8-inch touch-screen system is standard on L, LE, XLE, and XSE models. That system includes six speakers, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, USB charging ports, Bluetooth® capability, and Amazon Alexa connectivity.
On Limited and Platinum models, the infotainment system adds Dynamic Navigation and 11 JBL® speakers. You can also upgrade to a larger 12.3-inch touch screen for even clearer access to your apps and information.
Performance
All 2022 Highlander models are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine good for 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. All models are available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Several drive modes are available including Sport, Eco, Normal, Snow, and Trail modes. Additionally, AWD Highlander vehicles equipped with Multi-Terrain Select have MUD & SAND, ROCK & DIRT, and NORMAL modes.
If you need an extra performance boost, go with the XSE grade, which has a sport-tuned suspension, retuned shock absorbers, higher-rate springs, and a rear stabilizer bar designed. The XSE grade combines the comfort and premium feel of other Highlander models with improved handling and ride quality so you'll feel like you're driving a much sportier vehicle.
